Spring time!
Happy Spring everyone! I am excited to share with you the latest updates and events happening at DU as we continue to work towards our mission of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and training future leaders.
Student Leader Conference
Two weekends ago, we made our way up to Estes Park to host a leader conference for aspiring student leaders from the Denver Metro Area. It was a huge success! Our main focus for this event was to equip and train future student leaders in our vision for reaching more students with the gospel. Through interactive workshops and discussions, we delved into the importance of multiplying disciples and evangelism. It was awesome to see the passion and dedication of these young leaders as they strive to make a difference on our campus. It was remarkably special for Rachel and myself to witness DU leaders taking charge of planning for the fall, following the structure and vision we have instilled in them over the past couple of years.
Men's Retreat
Last weekend, 19 young men from CU and DU were treated to an engaging and spiritually enriching experience during a men's retreat at a cabin in Estes Park. The retreat focused on an in-depth study of 1 Thessalonians 4, led by Jared and myself, where we delved into the significance of cultivating virtue and holiness as God's will for our lives. Our discussions served as a call to action for the attendees, urging them to rise above apathy and inertia in their pursuit of Christ. The retreat provided an exceptional opportunity for the men to bond, grow together, and strengthen their relationship with Christ. Additionally, three seniors shared invaluable insights with the group, reflecting on their time in Cru, lessons they wish they had known before college, and how they can make the most of their remaining time. Cole, who will be joining the part-time staff in the fall, underscored the importance of living as Christians in every facet of life, irrespective of the consequences. Jackson expounded on the call to embody Christ through one's career, sharing his personal experience of pursuing geological engineering. Lastly, Teo emphasized the significance of Christian brotherhood in both college and post-college life, fostering mutual support and encouragement in the pursuit of Christ.
Summer of support raising
Fall semester is not far away and we are in search of financial support to fund our numerous projects and events, while also embracing a new family member. Your generous donations have played such a crucial role in allowing us to further our gospel mission and cultivate the next generation of leaders. We ask for your prayers as we work on forming partnerships with the many individuals and churches we have encountered since our move and we humbly request your ongoing collaboration in our efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of countless people.
Maddie and I are so grateful for your continued support and partnership in our mission at DU. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our events and initiatives, please do not hesitate to reach out.
In Christ,
Joey Bernas

End of the semester transition: Wisdom and strength to complete final tasks and responsibilities
Support raising: That the Lord would guide us to the right individuals who share our vision and values
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16–18
