Spring is here!
Summary
These last two months have been quite busy with the weather warming up. It has allowed us to do some pretty awesome stuff! Our weeks have been filled with weekly outreach events, evangelism, and a retreat for next year's student leaders. Student interest on campus at DU has increased thanks to weekly outreach and evangelism by our student leaders with the support of our staff team. Check out below for more details!
Above is a typical Wednesday afternoon with Eliot and Kyle. We set up an evangelistic activity and ask students on campus to answer a question for a beverage! The keg of root beer was definitely the biggest hit!
Thank you for your prayers and continued support. The two students that I am discipling, Kyle and Eliot, and myself have been able to spend quite a few hours on campus each week, meeting and initiating spiritual conversations with students. These two students have been focusing on training their evangelistic muscles, which has been growing for all of us! It has been quite encouraging to see them grow and become more comfortable with stepping out and faith and standing up for what is true! They have even gone out a couple times by themselves!
Our evangelistic tool of choice this semester is Perspective Cards (see picture). This tool is effective at helping us quickly determine what the core beliefs of the student we're talking with are and allows us to easily communicate what we as Christians believe. This has led to some amazing conversations and more students joining us for weekly events.
One guy in particular, Stephen*, has been showing up regularly to Bible study, our Cru meeting on Thursdays and has also jumped in to our fun, community building events (like the kickball event we held at the beginning of April). Eliot and I met Stephen a couple months ago and using the perspective cards, we spent over an hour and a half learning what he believed and also getting to share what Christians believe. When we presented the Gospel to him, he showed interested, but wasn’t ready to make a decision. Since that conversation, Stephen has been consistently involved with Cru, he even joined Maddie and I for church on Good Friday and Easter Sunday! He hadn’t been to church in 10+ years!
Prayer Requests
Please pray specifically for this student, that he would find true life, freedom and joy that comes from believing and knowing that Jesus is Lord!
Please be praying for the students that are beginning to raise funds to join various Summer Missions (several students are planning to participate in Summer project to Juneau, Alaska).
Continue to pray for the young men I am ministering to in our weekly Bible study and 1:1 discipleship, that they would continue to grow in their faith and have passion to share the Gospel!
Maddie and I want you to know that we are committed to praying for our team of supporters as well, so please reach out to us with specific ways we can be praying for you too!
Joey
