Bringing the Gospel to Denver

Since 2007, Christianity has seen a sharp decline and now American Cities are quickly becoming the new mission field. The term Post-Christian, first coined to describe the decrease in Christianity in Europe, is now being used to refer to America. Post-Christian refers to a society in which Christian principles that had been accepted over a multitude of generations have since been turned away from them. In just 11 years, the number of adults who identified as Christian dropped 13%.

The picture isn’t too great for Denver either. In fact, Denver seems to be one of the engines pulling the Post-Christian train. As of 2014 (most recent & reliable data), only 57% identified as Christian (41% Protestant, 16% Catholic) and 29% identifying as religiously unaffiliated. Looking at American cities might be a good projection as to what the religious landscape might look like in the coming years.

Moreover, mental health issues have been rising and have spiked during the pandemic. Some studies estimate that 3 out of 4 people say that their mental health has suffered since the beginning of the pandemic and earlier last month, Colorado declared a mental health emergency as suicide attempts rose 90% in one month. Not only that, but suicide is the number one cause of death of 15 to 24 year olds in Colorado and it ranked as the 3rd loneliest state in the country.

The future might look bleak, but as believers, we have hope in Jesus and we have a God on our side who will not stop until his name is spread throughout Earth.

College students are the future. After university, they go into a multitude of different areas of life and bring their ideas, experiences, and education with them. Sharing the gospel with them and helping them grow in their faith is crucial if we want to see change in the West.

As a member of Cru’s Denver branch, over the next 3-5 years, I intend to help establish a community of college students that is focused on three things: know, grow, and go.

I want college students in Denver to…

  1. Know Jesus deeply and personally

  2. Grow alongside other believers as they wrestle with the truth of scripture and understand the gospel at a deeper level

  3. Go and bring the gospel to their campus, workplace, and the world

In light of the scope and urgency of this task, I need a team of people who want to be a part of The Great Commission through connecting lost college students to Christ. This team of partners prays, connects, and/or gives financially on a regular basis so that I can be reaching students for Christ full time!

Whether over in person, FaceTime or over the phone, I’d love to meet with you personally and invite you to join me in sharing the gospel amongst the college students in Denver and ultimately the world.

You can make a contribution here and email me here!
